Free Tier & Startup Program Terms

These terms apply to the Mnemoverse Free tier and to plan grants issued under the Startup Program. They supplement the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. By continuing to use the Free tier or a granted plan, you agree to the terms below.
1. What the Free tier is for
The Free tier exists so you can use Mnemoverse for real: personal memory, side projects, evaluation, prototyping, and small production workloads within the published limits. Current limits and quotas are listed on the Pricing page — that page is the single source of truth for numbers; this document deliberately doesn't repeat them.
We want you on the Free tier for as long as it genuinely serves you. Most users never hit its ceilings.
2. Fair use
We assume good faith. That said, some usage patterns put disproportionate load on a shared service or fall outside what the Free tier is meant for — for example:
- reselling or white-labeling Free tier access as part of a paid product;
- sharing one API key across many unrelated end users;
- creating multiple accounts to multiply free quotas;
- sustained automated bulk traffic that behaves like load testing rather than memory use.
If your usage looks like one of these, here is what happens — in this order:
- We ask first. In ambiguous cases we'll reach out to understand your use case before doing anything. Often an unusual pattern turns out to be a legitimate project, and we'd rather learn about it than block it.
- We may suggest a paid plan. If your workload has outgrown the Free tier, the honest fix is a plan that matches it — or a Startup Program grant if you're early-stage.
- We may moderately reduce performance. For workloads that strain the service, we may deprioritize or throttle requests rather than cut access off. Your data stays intact and readable.
- We may decline service. As a last resort, we reserve the right to determine that a usage pattern constitutes abuse of the Free tier and to suspend or refuse service for it.
Whatever happens above, one thing never changes: we do not delete your memories. Even in a suspension case you keep read and export access to your stored data, consistent with our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
3. Startup Program grants
The Startup Program grants qualifying teams a paid-tier plan (typically Team or Enterprise features) free of charge or at a discount for a defined period.
- Grants are individual. Each grant has its own scope and expiry, stated when it's issued. When a grant ends, your account moves to the plan you choose — or to the Free tier by default, with the standard data-retention guarantees.
- Promotion is part of the grant agreement, not a default. We may ask, as a condition of a specific grant, for permission to mention your company name or logo as a Mnemoverse user, or for a feedback session. Any such condition is agreed at grant time — accepting a grant with stated conditions means accepting those conditions. We don't retroactively add conditions to an existing grant.
- Grants may be reviewed. If a granted account's usage falls outside the grant's stated scope, the fair-use process in section 2 applies — starting, as always, with a conversation.

4. Your data and research
- Operating the service: we process usage metadata (request counts, latency, error rates) to run, secure, and improve the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
- Research is opt-in only. We do not use the content of your memories for research, publications, or model evaluation unless you have explicitly opted in. No opt-in is implied by using the Free tier, accepting a grant, or agreeing to these terms.
5. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms; the current version is always at this page, and the "Last updated" date reflects the latest revision. Material changes that reduce what the Free tier offers will be announced before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
